Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has called Osama bin Laden, a key figure in the 9/11 attacks, a martyr again. Standing in the Pakistani parliament on Thursday, Imran said US troops had entered in Pakistan and killed Osama bin Laden. As a result, the Pak government was was hugely embarrassed.
On this day, standing in the National Assembly of the Pak Parliament, Imran mentioned Osama as a martyr. In his speech, Imran said, "We were very embarrassed - when the US military entered (Pakistan) and killed Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad - martyred him."
The US Navy SEALs raided the garrison town of Abbottabad, Pakistan, to capture Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of 9/11. Al Qaeda militant Osama was killed in that 2011 operation. Imran had earlier objected that the Pak government was kept in the dark over the whole incident. Osama bin Laden has been the target of many militant attacks around the world. Al Qaeda also attacked hijacked planes in five US cities in 2001. More than three thousand were killed. The US government has long campaigned against Osama bin Laden as the mastermind of the attack. Finally, in 2011, Osama was killed in that US operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
Imran had earlier spoken about the US campaign against Osama. During a visit to the United States last September, Imran said that Pakistan had informed US intelligence about Osama's presence in Abbottabad. According to Imran, the US military should not have carried out that covert operation against Osama, leaving the Pakistani government in complete darkness. Imran told a US television channel that the Pakistani government was uneasy about the operation. Imran Khan also said that the Pakistani government should have been informed about the operation keeping in mind the issue of good relations with the United States.
