Emraan was born on March 24, 1979 in Mumbai. His grandfather, journalist Syed Shawkat Hashmi, migrated to Pakistan after partition. But Grandmother Meherbanu Mohammad Ali remained in India with her son Syed Anwar Hashmi.
Meherbanu was a heroine of Hindi cinema. Her identity in the industry was Purnima . She got married for the second time in India. Producer-director Bhagwan Das Burma was Purnima's second husband.
Emraan's father has acted in only one film. The film 'Baharon Ki Manzil' was released in 1968. However, Emraan is following the legacy of his grandmother. In terms of family, Emraan is a close relative of director Mohit Suri and Mahesh Bhatt.
Emraan, a graduate of Mumbai University, wanted to work in animation. His Interest was in editing and management. Although relatives were spread all over Bollywood, Emraan had no desire to become a star by acting at that time.
He worked as an assistant director in 'Raj' and 'Kasur'. At that time, mentor Mahesh Bhatt asked him to pay attention to acting. Imran could not say anything about this to Mahesh at that time . But Emraan made his debut in Bikram Bhatt's thriller 'Footpath' in 2003.

But not being able to draw the attention in the first movie , Emraan went back to his old name. However, he added an additional letter 'A' to the spelling of the name. 'Murder' directed by Anurag Basu was released in 2004. Emraan's pairing with Mallika Sherawat was a super hit in this film. The great success of this film at the box office ensured Emraan's long innings in Bollywood.
Emraan, who came to the industry with the dream of becoming a director, became an overnight star with the help of the film 'Murder'. However, Emraan's relationship with Mallika Sherawat, the heroine of this film, was not good in real life. They never acted together again. Publicly pitted against each other.

In 2008, Imran's 'Jannat' was a huge success. Until then, his films were in the business of 12-13 crore rupees. But that amount reached 30 crores in 'Jannat'! Mahesh Bhatt postponed the release of 'Jannat' for 'Tashan'. He thought his picture would not be able to compete with the big budget picture.
But in reality the result was the opposite. In the IPL season, the spectators could not be attracted by 'Tashan'. But with the ace of IPL, the super hit was 'Jannat'. This film helped turn Emraan's career .
Arriving in 2011, Imraan started having bitterness with Mahesh Bhatt. He disobeyed Mahesh and acted in Ekta Kapoor's 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai'. The picture was a hit. But Mahesh got angry with Emraan. With this picture, Imran proves that he can be successful even outside the Bhatt-camp.
After that a long era of success waited for Imran. ‘Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji’, ‘Murder 2’, ‘Dirty Picture’, ‘Jannat 2’ were successful at the box office. At that time, Emraan became a strong rival of other stars. The popularity of his movies in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh was skyrocketing.
Realizing the time, Emraan paid 10 crore rupees per picture in one leap. At that time, stars like Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir, Akshay and Ajay used to get a salary of Rs 26 crore to Rs 30 crore per film. After Ranbir and Shahid Kapoor, Emraan was the third hero at the time to charge Rs 10 crore per film.
Desperate to erase the identity of 'serial Kisser', Emraan started experimenting this time. His work in the film 'Shanghai' was praised. But this film was not a success at the box office. This is where the failure of his career begins.

Along with his career, Emraan's personal life also became turbulent.After a relationship of more than six and a half years, Emraan married his girlfriend Parveen in 2006. His only child born in 2010 was Ayan. Four years later, Ayan was diagnosed with cancer. The new war began.
Emraan Hashmi and his wife won the war in 2019. Their son was declared 'cancer free'. Emraan Hashmi is now one of the leading figures in Bollywood in raising awareness against cancer.
